The Basics

What Is Digital Invoicing (e-Invoicing)?

Digital invoicing means your point of sale sends every sales invoice electronically to the tax authority the moment a sale is made, and prints a receipt with a unique invoice number and a verification QR code. Customers and inspectors can scan that QR to confirm the invoice is genuine.

Across Pakistan, tax authorities are moving every business to this model to stop under-reporting of sales. Instead of filing numbers manually at month end, the authority already has your live sales data. In return, compliant businesses get simpler filing -- and in several provinces, a lower tax rate.

  • Real-time submission -- every bill reaches the authority instantly
  • QR-verified receipts -- proof the tax was recorded
  • Automatic returns data -- no month-end scramble
  • Fewer audits and penalties -- your figures always match
Goods vs Services -- The Key Rule

This one rule decides which authority you deal with:

Selling GOODS?

Retail, wholesale, manufacturing, imports -- sales tax on goods is federal, collected by FBR, everywhere in Pakistan.

Providing SERVICES?

Restaurants, salons, hotels, halls -- sales tax on services is provincial: PRA in Punjab, SRB in Sindh, KPRA in KP.

Digital Invoicing -- Frequently Asked Questions

The questions Pakistani business owners ask us most

Digital invoicing (e-invoicing) means your POS transmits every sales invoice electronically to the relevant tax authority in real time and prints a receipt with a unique invoice number and verification QR code. Four authorities run such systems in Pakistan: FBR for goods federally, and PRA, SRB and KPRA for services in Punjab, Sindh and KP.

FBR collects federal sales tax on goods across all of Pakistan. PRA, SRB and KPRA collect provincial sales tax on services in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa respectively. The simple rule: goods are federal (FBR), services are provincial (PRA / SRB / KPRA depending on your province).

Sell goods (retail, wholesale, manufacturing) -> FBR. Provide services -> your provincial authority: PRA in Punjab, SRB in Sindh, KPRA in KP. Some businesses need more than one -- for example a hotel selling goods and serving food. Sum Cloud POS handles them all from one system.

Yes. Sum Cloud POS integrates with FBR digital invoicing, PRA eIMS, SRB e-invoicing and KPRA RIMS. A single business can connect to more than one at once, and each branch can be set to the authority of its province. Every invoice is routed to the correct authority automatically.
